As you know, The Caye Caulker Humane Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the welfare of animals on Caye Caulker, Belize.
We provide veterinary care, preventative medicine and education to the community. Our band of trusty helpers is on call every day and the services are free.
We are 501C(3) status in Austin TX (EIN 27-0827550), and registered non-profit in Belize.

The Need
We are writing to you today to ask for your help in raising funds.
Our current clinic has to be moved, as the land is being sold, and so we feel that it is time to stop moving around every few years. It is time to buy a piece of land and have a permanent home for the Caye Caulker Humane Society. A piece of land that will forever be for the animals of Caye Caulker. A legacy if you like.
The Lot
We have found a lot that will work. It is 50 x 50 ft. It is only a 50 feet from our current location between the main village and the heart of Caye Caulker’s population growth in the Bahia.
The land is presently fairly high with some low points that need fill. It has been cleared but retains some nice trees which we like for shade and a little privacy from the street.
The Plan
We plan to move the old clinic over to the new lot.
We hope to raise enough money to fully fence the property, fill it, and raise the building to 5ft and in our dreams we would build an addition to the rear (south) that would be an accommodation unit for visiting vets and double up as grooming house, laundry and overflow on busy spay and neuter days.
That way we can keep on serving the community free of charge while having the best of the best stay here to provide these services.
The new addition, whilst not a shelter, could also double up as a small education centre and first aid overnight accommodation shelter for dogs or cats that need to be hospitalised with dry and safe kennels underneath it.
The Goal
We have managed to raise the $60,000USD (after a generous discount from the owner) for the land.
To make the dream come true and improve the facilities and move our existing building we suspect we will need to raise another $50,000-70,000USD.
Giving Back
While some may prefer to stay anonymous, we also want to offer something back to everyone who makes donations;
- $1,000 – we will plant and name a tree of your choice
- $5,000 – we will honour you on our Wall of Fame near the entrance.
- $10,000 – we will name a kennel after you.
- $25,000 – we will name the building after you.
